Perth hospitality group Nokturnl has announced a new modern Asian restaurant, Bangla, set to open on June 19 in the former Ludo space on Mends Street, South Perth. The venue will take over the location beneath The Station after Ludo closes on June 14.
Bangla draws inspiration from Nokturnl's celebrated restaurants, including Lotus, Tonic + Ginger and Karla. The kitchen will be led by executive chef Sundoo Kim, who opened The Beaufort in 2022 and Stories in 2024, alongside newly appointed head chef Thanapat ‘Teddy’ Rattichot.
Kim described the menu as featuring bold flavours, share-style dishes and vibrant cocktails, drawing inspiration from across Asia rather than a single region. “The menu will draw inspiration from across Asia rather than one specific region or technique,” he said.
The closure of Ludo after just two-and-a-half years coincides with founding head chef Ludo Mulot stepping away from his role. Nokturnl said the change prompted them to reimagine the venue, with Bangla designed to feel alive from the moment guests walk in.
Bookings for Bangla are now open ahead of its official opening on June 19.
