Australian furniture brand Koala has introduced the Tamarama Sofa, a curved modular sofa that launches on May 19. The sofa is the first in Koala's lineup to feature curved modular shapes, offering flexibility for various room configurations.
The Tamarama Sofa introduces Koala's new 'Luxe Comfort' tier, which uses the brand's proprietary HyperSoft foam and a cruelty-free alternative fill to create a cloud-like seating experience. The sofa is available in machine-washable, water-resistant fabrics made from recycled materials, in six colours inspired by the Australian landscape.
Designed by husband-and-wife team James Whitta and Alexandra Owen, who previously led IKEA's product design team in Sweden, the Tamarama Sofa aims to blend coastal ease with contemporary design. Whitta stated that the sofa embodies the best of Australian design, offering softness both visually and physically.
The sofa comes in various configurations, including single seats, modulars, armchairs, and two, three, and four-seater options. Chaise and corner configurations are also available, with additional modular extensions that can be added over time. A curved module launching post-release will introduce more sculptural layouts.
Prices start at $1650 for the Tamarama armchair. All covers are removable, washable, and replaceable to extend the product's lifespan.
