TV personality Khanh Ong demonstrated his flavour-packed Japanese rice bowls on The Morning Show on Friday. The recipes offer a simple way to enjoy Japan's rich food culture at home.
Ong provided several tips for customizing the dish. If using fatty beef, he suggests skimming some fat off the sauce at the end for a lighter result, but notes that leaving it adds flavor.
For extra umami, he recommends adding a small splash of soy sauce at the end. To achieve a custard-like egg texture, cook it slower over lower heat. For a firmer egg, leave the lid on for an additional 30 seconds, but warns not to overcook it.
