CCTV Captures Woman Allegedly Sabotaging Hospital Equipment Hours Before Patient Death

Shocking CCTV footage has emerged showing a woman allegedly sabotaging critical infrastructure at two Sydney hospitals, with a patient dying at one of the facilities hours later. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Vanessa Moulton, 42, is accused of entering Kareena Private Hospital in Caringbah around 12:20am and cutting both the water and gas mains before activating fire hoses. Police allege she then scaled a wall to gain access to nearby Sutherland Hospital and switched off the gas main about 1:30am.

Exclusive CCTV footage obtained by 7NEWS appears to show a woman switching off high-pressure gas and water mains at a Caringbah unit block before walking towards Sutherland Hospital. A 72-year-old man in palliative care at Sutherland Hospital died about an hour later, around 2:30am.

Separate footage also appears to show a woman tampering with a fire control panel at a backpacker hostel in Darlinghurst on Monday. Moulton has since been charged with two counts of public nuisance, two counts of entering premises without a lawful excuse, sabotage, destroying or damaging property, and breach of bail.

She faced Sutherland Local Court via videolink on Wednesday and denied the allegations, stating, “I didn’t do it”. Moulton was refused bail and is due to appear at the Downing Centre on December 24.
