Gotzinger Deli Meat Recall Over Listeria Concerns

Five deli meat products from Götzinger Smallgoods have been recalled in Queensland and New South Wales due to possible listeria contamination. The affected items include sliced ham and roast beef.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand issued the recall for microbial contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The bacteria can cause listeriosis, a serious illness particularly dangerous for pregnant women, unborn babies, newborns, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms of listeriosis include fever, nausea, headaches, tiredness, and muscle aches. The general population can also become ill from consuming contaminated food.
