A 17-year-old boy has died and another teenager is in hospital following a stabbing on the Gold Coast. The incident occurred on Surfers Paradise Boulevard just after 8pm on Friday night.
Police say a fight broke out between two groups of teenagers who were not known to each other. The two victims were walking with three others when they encountered a group of five men. One of the men allegedly carried a large hunting knife used in the attack.
An off-duty doctor attempted to save the 17-year-old from Parkwood, but he died at the scene. The other injured teen is receiving treatment in hospital.
Detective Acting Inspector Mark Procter has appealed for witnesses or anyone with footage of the fight to come forward.
