Teen Driver Charged After Fatal Mount Moriac Crash

A 16-year-old boy has been charged following a fatal crash near Geelong that claimed the life of a 17-year-old passenger. The incident occurred early Sunday morning when the vehicle, a Mazda, collided with a pole on School Road in Corio.

Police allege the 16-year-old was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. He faces charges including culpable driving and dangerous driving causing death. The teenage victim was in the front passenger seat when the crash occurred.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 2am after reports of a vehicle hitting a pole. The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not injured.
