Truck Driver Charged Over Fatal Bruce Highway Crash Near Bundaberg

A 32-year-old truck driver has been charged following a multi-vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway near Bundaberg that claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl last year.

Police allege the Volvo prime mover, travelling northbound on the highway at Apple Tree Creek, collided with a white Mazda CX-5 and a white Toyota HiLux travelling southbound around 2am on October 10, 2025.

The teenager, from Brunswick Heads, was a passenger in the Mazda and was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Mazda, a 22-year-old Sarina woman, sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the HiLux, a 22-year-old Sarina man, was uninjured.

The truck driver, a Park Ridge man, was not injured and has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death. He was released on strict bail and is due to appear at Southport Magistrate’s Court on May 14.
