Driver Seriously Injured in Rubbish Truck Rollover on Notorious Perth Road

A 57-year-old rubbish truck driver was seriously injured and trapped in his vehicle after a rollover on Weir Road in Baskerville, a northeastern suburb of Perth, on Monday morning. The driver, a contractor for the City of Swan, had to be freed by rescue crews.

Resident Stephanie Gate reported that the driver suffered serious leg injuries and a gash on his head. Weir Road is known for being winding and steep, with a history of accidents involving trucks.

Residents say trucks often lose control when their brakes fail, and this incident marks the third time in a decade that a truck has crashed through Gate's property. Locals are calling for urgent safety upgrades, including metal barriers.
