The ASICS SportStyle and EMPTY BEHAVIOR collaboration has produced the HYPERSYNC sneaker, a design that merges ballet slipper elegance with wrestling shoe toughness. Officially themed "Powerette," the shoe explores the coexistence of strength and grace. It launches today, July 2, in white/silver and black/pink colorways for $200 through selected retailers and the ASICS website.
Design Inspiration and Details
The HYPERSYNC borrows elements from wrestling shoes, classical dance slippers, and low-profile street sneakers. Side stripes are pleated like miniature tutus, with tiny fabric folds fanning out across the shoe. The tongue features gathered satin details inspired by dance costumes, while the silhouette remains grounded and grippy from wrestling footwear. The campaign was photographed on the streets of Paris by Daniel Roché.
Fashion Context
The sneaker fits into current fashion trends that mix contradictions, such as delicate lace with motorcycle boots or rugby jerseys with silk skirts. According to the release, "The hottest outfits on earth right now look as though they were assembled by raccoons with access to luxury department stores." The HYPERSYNC is described as "giving Black Swan meets Fight Club" and "balletcore just picked up a folding chair."
Colorways and Availability
The white and silver colorway is described as futuristic and alien-like, while the black and pink version is moodier and more dramatic. The sneaker is available now for $200.
