A luxury guest house owned by advertising executive John Singleton has been destroyed by a fire on the New South Wales central coast. The blaze broke out around 6:00pm AEDT on Sunday at Pretty Beach, near a national park.
Police are treating the fire as suspicious. Around 80 firefighters from the Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue attempted to save the property but were unsuccessful. However, they managed to protect a nearby villa and the surrounding bushland.
Laura Ryan from the Rural Fire Service noted that the same firefighters had saved Pretty Beach House from a major bushfire approximately three weeks ago. She emphasized that only a well-prepared residence and the determination of firefighters were able to protect the property at that time.
The incident adds to recent misfortune for Mr Singleton, whose racehorse More Joyous finished 11th in the Cox Plate on Saturday. Fire investigators and police from Brisbane Water Local Area Command are investigating the cause of the blaze.
