Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Parts of Western Australia

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Western Australia, including the Kimberley, North Interior, and South Interior districts. The warning comes as thunderstorms develop in a moist and unstable airmass across the interior regions, potentially persisting into the evening.

Towns likely to be affected include Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek in the Kimberley, and Kiwirrkurra in the North Interior. The severe thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, and large hailstones.

Meteorologist Angus Hines from the Bureau of Meteorology stated that the storms could bring heavy rain, large hailstones, or damaging winds, which may contribute to outback road closures. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises residents in the warning zones to take precautions to ensure their safety.
