Perth is set to experience a four-day warm spell with temperatures reaching up to 27°C, likely the city's last stretch of sunshine before winter arrives. The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts clear skies from Saturday through Tuesday, just in time for Mother's Day.
Temperatures will climb gradually, starting at 24°C on Saturday and increasing by a degree each day to peak at 27°C on Tuesday. This comes as a welcome change for Perth, which has been slightly below average for May, sitting three degrees cooler than the May 2025 average.
Meteorologist Jessica Lingard attributes the warm weather to a high pressure system bringing easterly winds, shifting to warmer northerly winds early next week. While she describes the conditions as "perfectly normal" for this time of year, she advises residents to enjoy it while it lasts, as winter is only weeks away.
A pre-winter cold front is expected to arrive on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing the first showers in over a week. Perth has recorded only 3.6mm of rain so far in May, well below the monthly average of 85.5mm, with most of that falling on April 30.
Despite the warm spell, it falls short of the record for Perth's hottest May day, which was 34.3°C on May 1, 2002. Overnight temperatures are forecast to remain in the double digits, staying at 10°C or higher for the next six days.
