Two brothers from Perth have been charged following a massive seizure of illegally imported cigarettes and vapes. The Australian Federal Police, Western Australia Police, and the Australian Border Force conducted multiple search warrants in Perth in August, leading to the discovery of a warehouse in Perth's north containing cartons of nicotine products.
The warehouse was found to be storing a large quantity of illicit tobacco and vaping devices, which authorities say were smuggled into the country. The brothers are accused of being involved in the illegal importation and distribution of these products.
The AFP and WA Police have not disclosed the exact value of the seized items, but the operation is considered one of the largest of its kind in Western Australia. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be laid.
The brothers are scheduled to appear in court at a later date. Authorities have reminded the public that the importation of nicotine products without a valid prescription is illegal in Australia.
