Six people, including a baby and a child, were taken to hospital after a three-car collision in the southern Perth suburb of Oakford on Wednesday. The crash occurred at the intersection of Nicholson Road and Pony Place shortly before midday.
St John Ambulance dispatched nine crews and a helicopter to the scene. Police reported that the driver of a ute, a 58-year-old man, was critically injured and airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in the intensive care unit in a critical condition.
A 32-year-old woman driving a van, along with a baby and a four-year-old girl in the vehicle, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to Royal Perth Hospital and Perth Children's Hospital. A Royal Perth Hospital spokesperson confirmed the woman is being treated in the state trauma unit.
In a separate vehicle, a 36-year-old male driver of a hatchback and his 30-year-old male passenger also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital.
Oakford is a semi-rural suburb on Perth's southern outskirts. Police are investigating the accident and have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
