Nowra Woman Banned 10 Years For 45 Cruelty Charges

A Nowra woman has been banned from owning animals for 10 years after pleading guilty to 45 charges of animal cruelty. The 43-year-old, who cannot be named, was sentenced in Nowra Local Court on Tuesday.

The charges related to the neglect of multiple dogs and cats found in squalid conditions at her property. RSPCA inspectors discovered animals suffering from starvation, untreated injuries, and living in filthy environments.

The court heard that the woman had failed to provide adequate food, water, and veterinary care for the animals. Some animals were found dead on the property.

Magistrate Michael O'Brien described the conditions as 'appalling' and noted the significant suffering endured by the animals. The ban prohibits her from owning, caring for, or living with any animals for a decade.

The woman was also placed on a 12-month community corrections order and ordered to pay $10,000 in costs to the RSPCA.
