New Search for Missing Canberra Man Near ACT-NSW Border

Police and family members have launched a fresh search for missing Canberra man Jean Vincent Policarpio, nearly three years after his disappearance. The 21-year-old, known as Vince, was last seen leaving his home in Bonner on September 26, 2017.

The search began at 7:00am today in the nature reserve behind Bonner and Throsby, towards the NSW border, an area Vince was known to frequent. More than 50 people, including SES volunteers and ACT police, are involved in the search, which will continue from 7:00am to 5:00pm this weekend and next.

ACT police said the search was launched after a re-examination of the case. 'The search is a concentrated effort to locate new evidence,' a police spokesperson said. Mr Policarpio left his home without his keys, phone and wallet.

Police had previously searched near his home, the suburb of Forde, and the Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary in the days after his disappearance. In 2017, his family pleaded for public help, urging anyone with information to contact police. Mr Policarpio is one of eight people in the ACT with unsolved missing persons cases.
