NSW Police are investigating after a man was discovered stabbed, burned, beaten, and tied up in the boot of a car in Sydney's west. Emergency services were called to the car park of a unit complex in Villawood about 7am on Sunday following reports of a concern for welfare.
The ABC understands a member of the public contacted police after hearing a male voice screaming for help from the boot of a white car parked off Woodville Road. Local officers arrived shortly after and found a 29-year-old man tied up in the boot of a Toyota sedan, which had an Uber sticker on its rear windshield.
The man was treated at the scene for stab, burn, and assault injuries to his head and leg before being taken to hospital in a stable condition. A single underarm aluminium crutch was also found in the boot. Police believe the man was kidnapped from Military Road in Guildford between 4pm and 5pm on Saturday.
Sources with knowledge of the case have told the ABC that the victim is so far not cooperating with police. A crime scene has been established, and detectives are investigating whether the apparent kidnapping is linked to organized crime. In an unrelated incident, emergency services assisted a mother who accidentally locked her child in her car at the same car park.
