Firefighters battled a blaze that tore through an empty house in Raymond Terrace on Friday night. Emergency services were called to the scene on Troman Parade just before 9pm, finding the house fully engulfed in flames.
Crews from Maitland and Newcastle worked for more than three hours to extinguish the fire. Fire & Rescue NSW duty commander James Downey said crews quickly located the resident and confirmed no one was inside when the fire broke out.
Five crews worked for an hour to bring the fire under control, and police later confirmed the fire was extinguished about 1am. Officers declared a crime scene as firefighters brought the fire under control.
A spokesperson for NSW Police said inquiries were ongoing on Saturday morning. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
