Grass Fire Near Federal Highway Canberra Under Control

A small grass fire that broke out near the Federal Highway in Canberra's north has been brought under control. Fire and Rescue ACT and ACT Rural Fire Service responded to the incident near Downer around 11am on Saturday, January 10.

Six appliances initially attended the fire, according to an ACT Emergency Services Agency spokesperson. One southbound lane of the Federal Highway was blocked by emergency services vehicles during the response.

The fire was located between houses and the highway, but authorities confirmed there was no immediate threat to life or property. The ACT Emergency Services Agency issued a 'stay informed' warning for the fire.
