Duck Family Causes Traffic Chaos on Brisbane Motorway, Gets Police Escort

A family of ducks brought Brisbane's Gateway Motorway to a standstill during peak hour on Wednesday morning, prompting a police escort and rescue operation.

Traffic cameras captured the mother duck and her six ducklings waddling across the southbound Sir Leo Hielscher Bridge around 7:30am, forcing an incident response crew and a police motorcyclist to block off two left lanes to ensure their safety.

Helmet-cam footage from the police motorcyclist revealed the challenge of managing the seven wayward ducks on the busy motorway. A firefighter crew eventually arrived to assist, using blankets to corner and capture the ducks.
