A burst water main has caused significant traffic disruptions in Wallsend, with one lane closed on Pennant Hills Road near Evans Road. The incident occurred at approximately 6:15am AEST, and authorities expect the south-bound lane to remain closed for most of the day.
This event follows a series of water main bursts across Sydney. Yesterday, a cast iron main ruptured beneath Moore Park Road at Paddington, releasing tens of thousands of litres of water onto the street. On Tuesday, another water pipe burst in the Cross City Tunnel, leading to traffic chaos in the CBD.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and seek alternative routes. Repairs are underway, but delays are expected throughout the day.
