Adult content creator Kayla Jade has sparked a beauty frenzy after sharing her hack for achieving a flawless fake tan without ruining her sheets. The 31-year-old's viral TikTok video has caused a massive rush for Australian brand Luna Bronze, with their innovative self-tanning jelly completely selling out across the country.
In the clip, Jade revealed her previous tanning routine was a logistical nightmare for her work. She often had to 'marinate like a bronze basted chicken' and skip the rinsing step until a client arrived, leading to ruined sheets. 'I can't count how many sheets I've ruined. I'm constantly having to buy new sheets because of the stains and stench,' she said.
Jade then introduced the $38.95 Luna Bronze no-rinse tan jelly, calling it 'genius' and noting it smells like lemons rather than traditional tan. Beyond the aesthetic benefits, she used the viral moment to promote sun safety, showing a scar from skin cancer removal at age 31. 'Make that be your reminder to get your skin checked,' she urged.
The video resonated instantly, with viewers rushing to stores. Luna Bronze co-founder Rhiannon Hall confirmed the 'Kayla Jade Sellout Effect' on Monday, revealing they visited 12 Priceline stores, all sold out. Online sales skyrocketed from one bottle every five minutes to one per minute, a 230% global increase.
Comments flooded in, with users 'obsessed' with the concept. However, regular users scrambled due to the shortage. The award-winning gel, praised for its lilac consistency and ingredients like hyaluronic acid and aloe vera, develops a deep bronze within hours without a sticky residue or chemical smell, using lemon myrtle, mandarin, and ylang-ylang essential oils.
Luna Bronze, founded by Rhiannon Hall and Maddy Balderson in 2015 after Balderson's skin cancer diagnosis, has grown from a side hustle to a full-time venture in 2021. The brand launched in Priceline nationally in mid-April and is tracking towards an eight-figure financial year.
