Australian Olympic breakdancer Rachael Gunn, known as Raygun, has started offering personalised video messages on the celebrity platform Cameo after losing her job as a university lecturer. The 38-year-old charges around $94 per custom video, joining former TV stars, AFL players, models, and reality stars on the platform.
According to the Cameo website, users can request videos for milestones like birthdays, anniversaries, or reunions, and can ask for inside jokes, words of wisdom, or signature catchphrases. The videos are intended for celebrations such as weddings, retirements, or bachelor parties, and are kept by the user to relive later.
Gunn took voluntary redundancy from her role as a pop culture lecturer at Macquarie University in April amid budget cuts. She has also launched a website offering her services as a guest speaker or host, with topics including resilience, mental health, navigating online attention, women in sport, breaking barriers, and going viral while staying grounded.
Her website states that her strength lies in adaptability, connecting with academic, corporate, creative, or sporty audiences in a genuine way. The homepage features an image of Gunn in a spinning wheel pose, with a cursor shaped like her famous kangaroo stance.
Gunn gained viral fame at the 2024 Paris Olympics for her breakdancing performance, which included moves like writhing on the ground and hopping like a kangaroo. Despite global ridicule, the kangaroo move made her a household name.
