British pop star Jessie J has revealed she is cancer-free after a year-long battle with early-stage breast cancer. The singer, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, shared the news in an Instagram video from her annual check-up on Friday.
“Results are in and I am cancer-free!” Cornish posted. “I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year.” The mother-of-one first disclosed her diagnosis in June last year, expressing gratitude that it was caught early.
Shortly after her announcement, Cornish underwent a mastectomy. She later required a second operation in August, which led to the postponement of an upcoming tour. Despite the challenges, she returned to the stage in September at BBC Radio 2 in the Park in Chelmsford.
Throughout her journey, Cornish has been open about the difficulties of balancing motherhood and her career while undergoing treatment. Her candid updates have drawn praise from fans and fellow celebrities, who celebrated the latest news as “the best news ever.”
