Bar Lafayette, a beloved cocktail bar in Perth's CBD, will close its doors for the final time on Friday after 13 years of operation. Owner Brendon Sim announced the decision, citing the non-renewal of the lease for the Brookfield Place venue.
Sim founded the bar in 2012 with three friends, despite having no prior hospitality experience. Over the years, the venue became known for its award-winning cocktails and refined atmosphere, attracting city dwellers with a taste for quality drinks.
In 2018, Sim became the sole director and launched sister bar W Churchill next door. He credited his wife and business partner, Jessie Tan, as a key part of the bar's journey. Reflecting on highlights, Sim emphasized the people, guests who became friends, and the dedicated team.
The closure has prompted an outpouring of support from regulars. Sim described the messages as overwhelming and humbling. The final night will feature a Lafayette Era Party, inviting guests to celebrate the bar's legacy.
While Bar Lafayette closes, Sim encourages patrons to visit W Churchill from January 7 to continue creating memories. The bar's website invites regulars for one final toast, celebrating the stories and people who made it special.
