Husband's Heartbreak After Wife Killed in Allegedly Stolen Ute Crash

The husband of Carron Scott, a 60-year-old registered nurse killed in a head-on crash north of Brisbane, has expressed his devastation. The couple had been married for 21 years. Scott was driving to work at Woodford Manor aged care centre when her orange Toyota Corolla was struck by an allegedly stolen white Isuzu D-Max utility vehicle just before 6:10am on Wednesday.

Police allege the ute was stolen from Morayfield about 3:45am. The driver, a 31-year-old man, fled the scene on foot after the crash at Victoria Lane and Archer Street, Woodford. He was arrested at a nearby school around 8:30am, prompting a brief lockdown. He is assisting police and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Detective Acting Inspector Lisa Elkins said the man is known to police and that witnesses reported the ute was being driven dangerously before the crash. A forensic investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances. The D'Aguilar Highway was closed temporarily but has since reopened.

Colleagues at Woodford Manor paid tribute to Scott, describing her as a respected, much-loved, and dedicated nurse. “She will be greatly missed by colleagues, residents and families,” a spokeswoman said. Police are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
