Jim Jefferies Reveals Why He Turned Down Hosting the Logies
Jim Jefferies Explains Logies Hosting Rejection

Comedian Jim Jefferies has opened up about why he declined an opportunity to host the Logies, Australia's premier television awards ceremony. The popular comedian, currently hosting The 1% Club Australia on Channel 7, shared the details during an interview on Triple M Breakfast with Beau, Cat & Woodsy.

Why Jefferies Said No

Jefferies admitted that he was offered the hosting gig a few years ago, before Sam Pang eventually took the reins. "I might sound like a bit of an a-hole saying this … I was offered the job before Sam (Pang) was," Jefferies said. "I'm too much of a coward. I said no."

The comedian explained that he might have considered the role if he had been nominated for an award at the time. "I said, 'look, maybe if I was nominated for something, but I can't show up un-nominated. I'm not going to the Logies if I'm not nominated for a Logie,'" he added.

Sam Pang's Successful Run

After Jefferies passed on the opportunity, the hosting role went to Sam Pang, who helmed the awards show for three consecutive years from 2023 to 2025. Pang received widespread praise for his performances. However, last month, Pang confirmed that he would not be hosting the event in 2026.

"I've had three great years, and it was wonderful, but I'm just not going to do it this year," he told the Sydney Morning Herald. "I'm well aware I may never do it again, and whoever does it I'm sure will do a great job, but I just thought three was a nice number."

Potential New Hosts

The Logies will be held in Sydney on August 16 and will air on Channel 7. Pang expressed his desire to see comedians Kitty Flanagan and Anne Edmonds take over the hosting duties. The duo has previously presented together at both the Logies and the AACTA Awards, often stealing the show with their sharp wit.

At last year's Logies, while presenting an award, Edmonds joked, "I'm wearing a suit by Tarocash, coincidentally the same black suit worn to court by Ben Roberts-Smith … allegedly." Flanagan chimed in with, "And I'm wearing Noni B, who has just done a collab with Erin Patterson … allegedly." They were also in top form at the AACTAs, telling the star-studded crowd, "Very important to turn your phone off tonight ... unless you want thousands of messages from Binge offering you KAYO. Nobody knows what it is and no one wants it!"
