Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid have reportedly ended their relationship after more than a decade together, according to People magazine. The news, reported on Saturday, suggests the celebrity couple quietly split, with the actress best known for playing Monica Geller on the hit sitcom Friends and the Northern Irish singer-songwriter leading separate lives due to their long-distance arrangement.
Couple Amicably Parted Ways Last Year
According to the Daily Mail, the pair amicably parted ways last year, with friends noting the breakup was not “ugly” but that they were living “different lives.” Cox, 62, and McDaid, 49, began dating in late 2013 after meeting at a house party. They announced their engagement on X (formerly Twitter) in June 2014 but called it off the following year. The couple reconciled in 2016 but did not get engaged again.
Cox Reflected on Earlier Split in Podcast
While appearing on actress Minnie Driver’s podcast in April 2024, Cox reflected on their earlier split. “Three years in, we broke up, and it was really intense. We broke up in therapy. I didn’t know it was coming, whether I should have or not,” Cox said at the time. “He just broke up within the first minute. And I was like, what? We were engaged, and I was so shocked. I was in so much pain.”
Last Public Sighting at US Open
The pair were last seen together publicly at the US Open Tennis Championships in September 2025. Representatives for both Cox and McDaid have not yet publicly commented on the reported split. Cox was previously married to David Arquette from 1999 to 2013, and they have a 22-year-old daughter, Coco.
