Sir Kenny Dalglish Reveals Cancer Treatment

Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has revealed that he is receiving treatment for cancer. The 75-year-old Scottish great confirmed the diagnosis on Tuesday after inadvertently posting about his treatment on social media earlier in the day.

Club and Family Support

Liverpool FC has expressed its full support, stating: "The support, best wishes and love of everyone at Liverpool FC are, and will be, with Sir Kenny and his family." The club has also requested that the family's privacy be respected during this time.

Dalglish's Statement

In a statement, Dalglish wrote: "As my inadvertent social media post has indicated, I am currently undergoing treatment for cancer. Unlike my mobile phone use, the treatment is going well. Ideally, this would have remained private because that’s the way it should be, but my useless technology skills have forced my hand."

He added: "Obviously I did not mean to make this matter public so I would appreciate it if the privacy of my family and myself are respected. As ever, thank you to the wonderful medical staff who have shown incredible care and discretion, not just for me but for many, many others. They are a credit to themselves."

A Storied Career

Dalglish, who began his playing career with Celtic, also managed Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United. He is widely regarded as Liverpool's greatest ever player and holds a revered status at the club, not only for his outstanding talent on the pitch but also for his leadership during the aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.

The football community has rallied around Dalglish, with fans and former players sending messages of support. His contribution to the sport, both as a player and manager, remains unparalleled.
