Model and influencer Nara Smith has shared the heartbreaking news that her two-year-old daughter, Whimsy-Lou, was diagnosed with cancer last year. The 24-year-old social media star posted an emotional video on Thursday detailing the family's journey after noticing "something suspicious" on their daughter.
Diagnosis and Immediate Response
Smith and her husband, model Lucky Blue Smith, took Whimsy-Lou to the emergency room after spotting the abnormality. Doctors were initially unsure, but a referral to a paediatrician led to further tests. "I just remember him going really quiet and calm ... and my heart dropped in that moment," Smith recalled. "I don't know if it was my gut telling me something, or just mum's intuition, but the first thing I felt was she has cancer."
The family was then directed to a children's hospital, where X-rays, ultrasounds, and a biopsy confirmed the devastating diagnosis. Doctors informed them the cancer had spread to other parts of Whimsy-Lou's body, requiring immediate chemotherapy.
Outpouring of Support
The video has been viewed more than 30 million times across Instagram and TikTok, sparking an enormous wave of support. Australian actress Claire Holt wrote, "Praying so hard and sending so much love." US singer Meghan Trainor, model Winnie Harlow, and Kimberly Van Der Beek also shared their well-wishes. Smith expressed gratitude for the community, saying she turned to online forums and social media for guidance: "All of that combined has brought me a lot of comfort and alleviated the feeling of loneliness for me."
Smith hopes their story helps others: "We wanted to share this to hopefully bring someone else that comfort. Or even incentivise you to go get something checked out that you've been avoiding."
Balancing Motherhood and Work
The mother of four acknowledged the challenge of balancing her career with Whimsy-Lou's hospital appointments, which explained her reduced social media presence. "Finding that balance is something that I struggle with on a daily basis," she said. "Some days are a little easier, some days are really hard."
Smith, who has over 17 million followers across platforms, became famous for videos showcasing elaborate homemade meals for her family. She frequently features Whimsy-Lou and her three other children: Rumble Honey, Slim Easy, and Fawnie Golden, born in October 2025.
Rejecting the 'Trad Wife' Label
Her content has sparked discussions about the "trad wife" trend, but Smith has publicly rejected the label, insisting she and Lucky Blue hold modern views. The couple continues to navigate this difficult time together, with Smith emphasizing the importance of family support.
