Carrie Bickmore Hospitalised After Vocal Cord Issues, Shares Update
Carrie Bickmore Hospitalised for Vocal Cord Treatment

Carrie Bickmore has been hospitalised following her extended absence from the airwaves due to vocal cord issues. The beloved radio star, who co-hosts the Carrie & Tommy Show on the Hit Network alongside Tommy Little, took to Instagram Stories on Tuesday to share an image of herself in a hospital bed.

“OK voice... time to come back [crossed fingers emoji],” she captioned the post. While the 45-year-old did not specify whether she was undergoing an operation, the post suggested she was having a procedure to correct her vocal cord problems.

Last month, Bickmore candidly addressed her absence from the show, revealing her vocal cords were “in a very bad way.” “I am back! But this is like a ‘one night only’ special, I’m only back for today,” she said on air, sounding audibly hoarse and emotional. She explained that an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist had given her a grim warning: if she didn’t take time off to fix the issue, her vocal cords could be permanently damaged.

“Things are not good, so I’m going to have to take some time off work to get it fixed. If I don’t get it fixed now, they [vocal cords] will be permanently damaged, which will be very unfortunate for my job…” Bickmore broke down, admitting it was hard staying away from a job she loves while fearing permanent damage could end her career. “It’s making me upset. I’ll be fine, sorry… I just don’t like letting people down and I don’t like letting myself down. I also really love my job and don’t want to be forced not to [ever] do it again!”

She added: “I’m taking a little bit of time off to get it fixed. I’m hoping that if I get onto it now, it will be a non-permanent thing.” In response, co-host Tommy Little comforted her, saying: “We just want you healthy and back to 100%, Carrie.”
