Zomp Shoes Founder Greg Goodrick Remembered In Perth Tribute

The founder of Perth footwear brand and store Zomp Shoez, Greg Goodrick, has passed away. He was remembered as a “truly legendary” person in a farewell post on the business’s social media pages on Monday.

Goodrick opened Zomp’s first boutique in Perth’s Trinity Arcade in 1972. The retailer, known for its range of premium ladies fashion footwear, expanded to Claremont, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in the early 2000s. The brand now operates online and at its last standing brick-and-mortar store on King Street in Perth following the closure of its other locations.

Customers, former staff and the local community have been left devastated by his death, sharing their memories of Goodrick in the comments. One person recalled, “I worked part-time in Trinity Arcade in the mid 80s and Greg was a gentleman. I spent more than I earned as he gave generous discounts to staff. He had great taste.”

Another said, “The end of an era. My first full time job was at Zomp, Trinity Arcade in the mid 80’s. Greg was a very caring and generous employer and a trendsetter in women’s fashion. My condolences to his family.” A third added, “I absolutely loved the collection of shoes he brought into my life… obviously a man with an eye for quality and style.”
