Last Slice Sports Bar Eyes Kwinana Marketplace for New Venue

The Last Slice sports bar franchise, known for its New York-style pizza and sports entertainment, is seeking a tavern licence to open a new venue in Kwinana Marketplace, south of Perth. The application, submitted to the local authorities, outlines plans for a family-friendly establishment that will include a sports lounge, children's corner, alfresco dining, electronic darts, and social gaming.

Signature New York-Style Pizza and Community Focus

The brand's signature dish is authentic hand-tossed New York-style pizza, available in 15-inch and 22-inch formats, tailored to Western Australian tastes. The application states that the venue will deliver a "distinctive, innovative and community-focused" food-and-beverage offering centred around its pizza concept. Sides will include chicken wings, house-made dipping sauces, a pear-rocket-walnut salad, and a gluten-free brownie dessert. Beverages will feature WA wine, beer, cider, and spirits, as well as zero per cent alcohol and soft drinks such as Dr Pepper.

Award-Winning Franchise Seeks to Replicate Success

Last Slice currently operates bars in Midland, Bunbury, and Dalyellup. In 2022 and 2024, it received the AHA WA sporting entertainment venue award, and in 2024, it also won the best redeveloped venue award. The application highlights these achievements, stating, "These achievements demonstrate the group’s ongoing commitment to operational quality, responsible service of alcohol and consumer-focused hospitality outcomes, qualities that the applicant intends to replicate at Last Slice Kwinana."

Venue to Boost Local Economy and Evening Economy

The application emphasises that Last Slice Kwinana will function not only as a convenient dining choice for local residents but also as a modern entertainment destination within the Kwinana city centre, attracting workers, shoppers, and visitors to the Marketplace precinct. "By establishing a vibrant, family-friendly venue that combines substantial dining options with responsible beverage service, the proposed premises will strengthen the appeal of the Kwinana city centre as a destination," the application said. "The operation of the proposed premises will support employment, expand local dining and sports entertainment options, activate the evening economy, and enhance the amenity of the Kwinana town centre."

Security and Safety Measures

The venue will have comprehensive CCTV coverage, as well as harm minimisation and noise management plans. Notably, jackets or any other clothing or accessory, or any clearly visible body marking, bearing patches or insignia of any outlaw motorcycle gangs will not be allowed.

Community Support and Next Steps

A community survey received 90 responses, with 95 per cent supporting the application. Public comments on the application close on June 29. The application also included details about the history of New York-style pizzas, which will be available in classic New York, Aussie favourites, and vegetarian options.
