As a professional shopping editor, it is rare to encounter a product that genuinely stops me in my tracks and immediately earns a spot at the top of my must-have list. However, when such a product does emerge, it is my duty to share it with you and encourage as many people as possible to make the purchase.
Introducing the Koala Tamarama Sofa
The latest release from Australian furniture brand Koala is the Tamarama sofa. This dreamy modular sofa masterfully combines a classic, coastal, and contemporary aesthetic into one pillowy soft seating option. It is a high-end, modular lounge that can be built and expanded to provide coastal-inspired, cloud-like comfort. In fact, it is genuinely one of the most comfortable pieces of furniture I have ever sat on.
Adding to its appeal, the sofa is completely customisable. With six colour options, two fabric types, and four configurations, there is a Tamarama sofa to suit every living room.
First-Hand Experience
When offered the opportunity to try the Tamarama at home, I eagerly accepted and chose the four-seater configuration in Forest Green for my new open-plan kitchen, living, and dining room. Despite my initial terror when 11 boxes arrived at my front door, the sofa proved incredibly easy to assemble and install. It took just 30 minutes for my husband and me to go from boxes to a fully built sofa, making it one of the simplest DIY projects I have ever undertaken.
Now that it is in our living room, we are all obsessed. The 'Luxe Comfort' tier provides a supremely comfortable, sink-in feel, engineered to deliver the softest, most cloud-like seating experience possible. The sofa also looks fantastic, with a deep, rich, and elegant appearance that enhances the space. An added bonus is that all the covers can be removed and washed when spills inevitably occur.
Design and Innovation
James Whitta, co-founder of Koala, explains that the Tamarama embodies the best of Australian design right now. "Nowhere does relaxed yet elevated living like Australia, and our goal with the Tamarama was to wholly embody that quality," Whitta says. "This is a range with softness, both visually and physically, but which still feels intentional and refined. There is no question that the Australian design sensibility is evolving and is uniquely desirable both here and around the world. This is a sofa not just for the beach house, but for stylish living worldwide, from city to coast."
The brand's designers, husband-and-wife team James Whitta and Alexandra Owen, leveraged their experience as former heads of Ikea's product design team in Sweden to launch this sofa in Australia.
Modular Flexibility
One of the most clever features of this sofa is its modularity, allowing it to be configured and reconfigured over time. If you move to a larger living space, you can expand the Tamarama to fit. If you suddenly desire an L-shaped look, simply add an ottoman, and it transforms into what appears to be a new couch. You can also update and replace the covers over time.
EOFY Sale Opportunity
Right now, the Tamarama is on sale as part of Koala's End of Financial Year offering, making it a fantastic opportunity to invest if you have been considering replacing your sofa. Prices start at $525 for the Tamarama Ottoman. For more information and to shop from Koala, visit their website.
