KordaMentha, a founder-owned and led advisory firm, is marking two years in Canberra with a growing team and a focus on hands-on delivery. The firm, known for its work on high-stakes projects like the administration of the Whyalla Steelworks, brings a unique approach to the nation's capital.
According to Jess Finlay, Public Sector Advisory Partner and head of the Canberra office, the milestone reflects the firm's commitment to applying decades of experience to complex government challenges. 'It's been great to bring the benefit of KordaMentha's decades of experience to the nation's capital,' she said.
Being founder-owned means accountability stays close to the work. Founders Mark Korda and Mark Mentha, along with senior leaders, remain actively involved in projects, enabling quick decisions and ownership of outcomes. This approach, forged in corporate restructuring, translates well to the public sector's high-pressure environment.
The Canberra team has grown to over 30 people, supported by a national capability of more than 700 staff. The team includes senior partners and executive directors with expertise in financial advisory, restructuring, data analytics, cyber, and complex transformation.
KordaMentha's independence as an Australian-owned firm gives it an edge in working with the public sector. 'We're an Australian firm focused on solving Australia's problems,' Finlay said. The firm helps departments and agencies navigate pressures to deliver infrastructure, technology, and security projects transparently and sustainably.
Looking ahead, the Canberra office will continue to focus on public sector clients, supporting them with complex projects that demand clear accountability and practical execution. The firm's hands-on expertise aims to help clients move from planning to delivery and improve performance.
