Santa's Farm in Tullimbar has opened for the Christmas tree season, welcoming families eager to select and cut their own real tree. The farm, which grows trees for nearly five years before they are ready, began operations on December 1.
Families like Emma and Jeremy Shipp from Corrimal have made the trip a tradition for a decade. With their three children, they choose a tree, take photos, and use sleds to transport the felled tree. Ms Shipp noted the importance of the experience, despite the effort of washing off bugs.
Nicky Edwards and Tom Agnew from Marshall Mount also visit annually, emphasizing that a real tree is essential for their Christmas. They appreciate the unique, slightly lopsided shape of each tree and the pine scent that fills their home.
Farm owner Rowan Pyers expressed excitement about this year's crop, which has thrived after several tough weather years. He highlighted the five-year growing process and the joy of seeing families enjoy the outdoors and the sensory experience of a real tree.
Pyers noted that with proper care, the trees can last five to six weeks. The farm's opening day saw a strong turnout, with families eager to start their holiday traditions.
