A development application has been lodged with Shellharbour City Council for a pair of five-storey apartment blocks at the northern entrance to Shell Cove Marina. The complex, linked at podium level to form a cross, would contain 154 apartments.
Of these, 99 would be two-bedroom units, 22 three-bedroom, and the remainder single-bedroom. The proposal also includes three retail tenancies, though a study suggests options are limited, with restaurants, cafes or takeaway food venues being the most viable.
The statement of environmental effects notes the site's unique position, benefiting from proximity to Shellharbour South Beach to the north and the marina to the south. A traffic study indicates the development would generate up to 95 additional vehicle trips per hour during peak times, with most trips contained within the Boat Harbour Precinct.
The development application is on public exhibition until May 4.
