Man Seriously Injured After Car Hits Power Pole in Shellharbour

A 28-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition in Wollongong Hospital after a crash south of Wollongong early this morning. Police believe speed was a factor in the incident.

The car hit a power pole and a house on Lake Entrance Road in Shellharbour. The driver suffered serious leg injuries and was trapped in the vehicle for approximately 40 minutes before rescue authorities freed him.

Craig Pusser from the New South Wales Ambulance Service said paramedics administered pain relief at the scene. The man broke both his legs in the crash.

The collision caused about 30 premises to lose electricity. Integral Energy crews are working to replace the power pole, with services expected to be restored by 10:00 AM AEST.

Lake Entrance Road has reopened to eastbound traffic after being closed earlier today.
