Familiar Faces to Run New Foreshore Park Kiosk

Thomas and Nova Carias-Cox, the operators of Sunnyboy Kiosk at Dixon Park Beach, will manage the new kiosk at Foreshore Park. The couple, who grew up working in their family business, also run three Morning Market Coffee locations in Whitebridge, Newcastle West and Warners Bay.

Scheduled to open in January, the new kiosk will be called Sunnyboy Park. It will offer a family-friendly menu including fish and chips, hamburgers, sandwiches, ice-creams, refreshments and coffee.

Mr Carias-Cox said they are excited to take on the space in an incredible location, which will be enhanced when the new inclusive playground opens later next year. He said they aim to create a relaxed, welcoming spot where families can enjoy great food and coffee.

Work is almost finished on the new kiosk and accessible public toilets, which are scheduled to open late January. A free community event with family-friendly activities, live music, treats and coffee will be held on January 31 to celebrate the milestone.

City of Newcastle Asset Advisory Committee chair councillor Declan Clausen said the new facilities will enhance the experience of visiting Newcastle's premier city park. He noted that the completion of the kiosk and accessible amenities is a key milestone in the ongoing revitalisation of the area.

The new amenities building includes unisex ambulant toilets, a parents' change room, and a Changing Places facility. The projects are supported by the state government, Variety the Children's Charity, the Touched by Olivia Foundation and the Newcastle Port Community Contribution Fund.
