Manjimup farmers market to launch in September

The Manjimup Farmers Market Collective, a new fortnightly farmers market celebrating the growers and producers of the Southern Forests, will officially launch on Sunday, September 20 at the Manjimup Heritage Park from 8am to noon. The market is operated by the Manjimup Visitor Centre and aims to highlight the exceptional produce and passionate people behind one of Western Australia's key food-producing regions.

A celebration of local produce and community spirit

Manjimup Visitor Centre manager Samantha Cleveland expressed excitement about the initiative, calling it a vibrant addition to the region. "The Manjimup Visitor Centre is delighted to announce the launch of the Manjimup Farmers Market Collective. It's an exciting new initiative that celebrates the exceptional produce, passionate growers, and vibrant community spirit that make the Southern Forests region so special," she said.

Beyond a traditional market, the event will offer a variety of food experiences, including chef demonstrations, grower talks, and artisan products. "More than just a place to shop, the Manjimup Farmers Market Collective will be a lively community gathering space where people can enjoy fresh seasonal produce, artisan products, delicious food experiences, chef demonstrations, grower talks, and the welcoming atmosphere that regional communities are renowned for," Ms Cleveland added.

Farm-to-table connection and tourism boost

The market aims to educate visitors about the origins of their food and foster a direct connection between consumers and growers. "Visitors and locals alike will have the opportunity to learn where their food comes from, meet the growers behind the produce, and gain a greater appreciation for the benefits of fresh, seasonal food delivered directly from farm to table," Ms Cleveland said.

From a tourism perspective, the market is expected to enhance the region's appeal by offering an authentic local experience. "Increasingly, travellers are seeking genuine experiences that connect them with local people, food and culture, and the Manjimup Farmers Market Collective will deliver exactly that," she noted. "The market offers visitors an authentic taste of the Southern Forests and another compelling reason to visit, stay longer, and explore more of what our region has to offer."

Call for stallholders

Stallholder registrations are now open, with growers, producers, artisans, food vendors, and community groups encouraged to contact the Manjimup Visitor Centre for a registration form. "The Manjimup Visitor Centre is proud to be operating the market, and looks forward to working alongside the community to create an experience that not only supports our region's economy but also showcases the outstanding quality, diversity and hospitality that the Southern Forests is known for," Ms Cleveland said. "Visitors can look forward to discovering the very best of the Southern Forests, all set within the iconic surroundings of Manjimup Heritage Park."
