Jake Paul's jaw was broken in two places during his loss to former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in Miami. Joshua scored a sixth-round knockout victory, ending the bout with a powerful punch to Paul's jaw that sent the American to the canvas for the fourth and final time.
Paul confirmed the injury on social media, posting an X-ray of his damaged jaw with the caption 'Double broken jaw.' He also wrote 'give me Canelo in 10 days,' calling out star boxer Canelo Alvarez as a potential next opponent.
In a separate post from what appeared to be a hospital room, Paul thanked fans for support and later said surgery 'went smooth.' He added, 'Lots of pain and stiffness. Gotta eat liquids for 7 days.'
Concerns were raised before the fight due to the mismatch in size and skills. Paul weighed in at 98kg, while Joshua weighed 110kg. Joshua, a two-time heavyweight champion, is known as one of the sport's elite power punchers.
