A fisherman has lost his life after being swept off rocks along the New South Wales north coast. The incident occurred at Conner Hurley Lookout in Evans Head, approximately a 35-minute drive south of Ballina, shortly after 11am on Sunday.
Emergency Response
Emergency services were alerted following reports that a rock fisherman had been washed into the water. Officers from the Richmond Police District, along with the Marine Area Command, Surf Life Saving NSW, and NSW Ambulance paramedics, attended the scene to assist the man. Despite their efforts, the man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary inquiries suggest that the man had been fishing on a nearby rock wall when he was swept into the ocean. A report will be prepared for the Coroner as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
