Professor Rhonda Marriott, a leading Aboriginal health researcher, has been named a finalist for the Western Australian of the Year Awards in the Aboriginal category. The announcement highlights her significant contributions to Indigenous health, particularly in maternal and child wellbeing.
Professor Marriott is the inaugural Pro Vice Chancellor of the Ngangk Yira Institute for Change at Murdoch University in Perth. Her work focuses on providing science-based knowledge to Aboriginal women, empowering them during pregnancy and birthing.
The recognition comes as Professor Marriott was also awarded the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scientist of the Year at the 2025 Western Australia Premier's Science Awards. The award acknowledges her outstanding leadership and contribution to Indigenous health research.
