A 50-year-old man riding an e-bike has died after colliding with a Transperth bus at an intersection in Swan View, Perth's north-east, on Monday evening. Police said the crash occurred at the intersection of Marlboro Road and Morrison Road about 6:40pm.

This is the latest fatal accident involving e-rideables in Western Australia, with at least 12 deaths since 2022. A recent parliamentary review of laws governing e-rideables, including e-scooters and e-bikes, has yet to result in changes. The state government has urged the Commonwealth to act on a national crackdown, including stronger border controls on illegal devices.

Premier Cook noted that further road safety initiatives would be brought forward soon, adding, 'We continue to talk to the experts and stakeholders in relation to how we make e-rideables more safe.'
