Three people, including two teenagers, have been charged after a 54-year-old woman was injured during an alleged car theft on the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Police allege the group arrived at a Runaway Bay home in a stolen car about 4pm. A 16-year-old boy is alleged to have stolen the car from the home, and the woman was struck and injured while trying to stop the theft.
The woman was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital, where she remained on Sunday afternoon. Paramedics also assessed a woman in her 20s at the scene who did not need further treatment.
A relative said the woman had been unloading groceries and tried to close the gate to prevent the alleged theft. The stolen vehicle was tracked to the M1 Pacific Motorway Yatala South Interchange, where the group was arrested shortly before 4:30pm.
On Sunday, police charged the 16-year-old Southport boy, an 18-year-old Pimpama man, and a 24-year-old Eagleby woman with offences including grievous bodily harm and robbery. The boy is due to face Southport Children's Court on Monday, while the others will appear in Southport Magistrates Court.
Police said investigations are ongoing and urged witnesses or anyone with relevant vision to contact them.
