A Queensland bus company has attributed a school bus crash in Townsville last month to driver error. The Sunbus school charter collided with the rear of a truck on the Bruce Highway, carrying approximately 40 children at the time.
More than a dozen children were taken to hospital with minor injuries following the incident. Sunbus confirmed that its internal investigation determined the crash was caused by driver error, and disciplinary action has been taken against the driver involved.
The company did not provide further details about the nature of the disciplinary measures or the driver's current status. The incident had initially raised questions about potential factors beyond driver control, but Sunbus's findings have cleared the students of any blame.
