A 29-year-old motorcyclist has died following a crash on a bush trail in Mannering Park, Lake Macquarie. Emergency services were called to Rutleys Road at 5:30pm yesterday after reports of a collision between a trail bike and a four-wheel-drive.
Police investigations indicate the four-wheel-drive was attempting to overtake another southbound vehicle when it collided head-on with the motorcyclist. The rider, a local man, died at the scene. The driver of the four-wheel-drive was not injured.
Police have confirmed the trail bike was unregistered and had no lights. Investigators have spoken to several witnesses and will prepare a report for the coroner.
