A 60-year-old man has died following an e-bike crash in Sydney's eastern suburbs, prompting a police investigation into the incident.
Emergency services were called to Queens Park around 6pm on Sunday after receiving reports that a rider had been seriously injured near the intersection of Newland Street and Birrell Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the man receiving medical treatment from NSW Ambulance paramedics. He had sustained significant facial injuries.
Police were informed that the rider had been traveling on an e-bike when he lost control and fell onto the roadway.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene before transporting him to St Vincent's Hospital in a critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical staff, the man later died in hospital.
Investigation Underway
The circumstances surrounding the crash are now under investigation. Officers attached to the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the incident.
As part of the investigation, the e-bike involved in the crash was seized for forensic examination. Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
