The New York City Police Department (NYPD) told NBC in a statement on 1 June that they took the incident seriously. "The NYPD, to make sure there was not a threat to the public, sent their highly trained Emergency Services Unit officers into the sewer system to make sure nothing nefarious had been left behind by the individuals – nothing was found," the statement read.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities are still trying to determine who these individuals are and why they were using the sewer system. The incident has sparked curiosity and concern among local residents. Police have not reported any similar incidents since the video was recorded, but they are urging anyone with information to come forward.
